What’s Up With Ending Sentences With Prepositions?

theyuniversity:

It’s the same thing as the “Don’t begin your sentence with a conjunction” rule. When we are young, we are taught these unnecessary rules in order to cut down on fragments, in the case of conjunctions, and sentences like “Where are you at?,” in the case of prepositions. The problem is that not everyone has a teacher in late elementary/early middle school who tells them “By the way, that’s not always the case,” and so you have people — like my friend’s mother, bless her heart — who will interrupt you in an effort to correct you and sound intelligent when they really don’t know what they’re talking about.
